A low day

Sometimes, things just don’t go the way you planned them to.

It started when I got to my day job and went to merge the PDF issue together. I realized that I had all black-and-white images for inside the magazine. The Print edition is all-b&w inside, but the PDF doesn’t have to be, and there are some great color images in this issue. I didn’t have the tools on that computer to do what I needed, so I had to wait until I got home to fix it.

A little before noon, I made a preliminary email to a local theater that’s well-known for screening classic films to see about booking time for our screening. Around 1PM I got a response, which was very receptive; we emailed a couple more times and everything seemed positive until I got their pricing. Suffice to say, their cheapest rates were about 6 months’ worth of our total budget for the magazine. Although this was seriously deflating, I’m going to contact a few more venues with the hopes of finding something cheaper. (You’d think there’s got to be some auditorium somewhere that we could use for one night for a couple hundred bucks, wouldn’t you?)

Overall, a frustrating day, even though it was somewhat productive. I’m really hoping that we don’t have to give up on the screening… that would really just suck, especially after we’ve gotten our hopes up.
