A voice that came from you and me
Mar 5th, 2010 | By Bart Leib | Category: CG BlogSo much going on! It’s been a busy few days!
The release of Issue 16: STEAMPUNK has been very well received. Go, read, enjoy!
But the new issue has been somewhat overshadowed by the very successful opening of Science in My Fiction! SiMF is our new blog intended to “get science fiction and fantasy writers and fans thinking ahead of science again. Playful bloggers will take a look at recent scientific developments and extrapolate potential futures from them.” The first couple posts are up and have already sparked some lively and fun speculation. Apparently SiMF has made a good impression, because it got a short write-up on io9! w00t! In fact, as of this writing it’s still on the front page of io9… awesome!
We’ve made our choices for acceptance to the Antihero issue! We’ll be sending out emails tonight. Also OMG the cover is incredible!
We’re now accepting submissions for our EASTERN issue. We’re looking for stories set in Eastern cultures. Submissions have been slow so far… please get your subs in! We really want this one to be impressive. (Anyone can submit, by the way – the setting and preferably the characters will be from Eastern cultures, but the writer doesn’t have to be.)
This month is your LAST CHANCE to read our Humor issue! Enjoy it before it’s gone! It includes an article about writing humor by Piers Anthony! And if you like, pick up a copy!
Most of the past couple of days have been spent troubleshooting some last details on the SiMF site, and prepping for another Surprise we have coming. Said surprise will be announced in just about two weeks! But it’s mostly ready. I also spent some time getting some of the early work done on Issue 17.
One last thing I want to mention: some very generous people have created 100 Stories For Haiti. It’s an anthology of 100 short stories, created to help raise funds for relief efforts in Haiti. All proceeds go to the Haiti Earthquake Appeal. It’s very similar to Post a Story For Haiti, except you get a wonderful printed book out of it! Please consider purchasing a copy to help with the ongoing Haiti relief.
