Built upon an evil love
Jun 6th, 2009 | By Bart Leib | Category: CG BlogIt’s a line from this song, which Kay and I have decided is now “our song”. It’s also a fairly accurate description of Crossed Genres.
Writers were emailed today (Prior to that I had to make up contracts for them). I’ve heard back from some of them. It’s always fun at this point, when the revelation of acceptance has been made – it’s exciting for everyone. It’s especially nice for writers being published for the first time. We had one of those for Issue 7, and we have another going in Issue 8. Really, it’s one of the best parts of the entire process for us.
We’ve… kind of decided our final stories to accept. Tricky this month; we want 5 stories total, we have 6. We’re leaning toward the one we’d drop, but it’s fairly strong. I guess right now the debate is whether we should stretch for a 6th story, but we’ll most likely end up not taking it.
I dropped a Project Wonderful ad on a site today around 11 am. I wasn’t expecting much of it – in truth I thought I’d pull it fairly fast, as it was pretty pricey for the traffic it got. To my utter surprise, it drew an absurd number of visits to CG. I left it up as long as I could before the weekly ad budget ran out, and I was stunned by how productive it was – by far the best bang for the buck of any ad I’ve placed yet. I may just hit up that site again on Monday!
I think you should take the story. However, since I submitted last month I may be biased.
