Double bluff and feint and drill

The Print edition is just about done. Still waiting to hear back from one or two people about a couple small changes, but it’s really on the verge. I think *knock wood* that with some prodding I can get it wrapped up tomorrow.

Other than that, there’s not much going on with I9 – we’re at that point where everything else goes on hold while the Print edition gets sorted. After it’s submitted and we’re waiting for the proof, then all the rest will explode in a frenzy of activity.

Since WorldCon is coming up in August, we have to really be ahead of the game for Issue 10. Knowing that, we’ve already started reading submissions… and a good thing too, because we’re well on pace to surpass our highest submission total yet. I’m also going to see if I can find time to do a proper I10 “prep”, meaning have all the templates and webpages and everything completely ready to just fill in once we’ve picked which stories to accept. With any luck, we might manage to have all the selections and editing done before we leave on August 5th.

In preparing for WorldCon, I realized today that I still hadn’t heard back from the convention organizers about childcare. With only 3 weeks left, this is reason enough to worry, especially since I hadn’t received any response to my 3 emails. I posted to the WorldCon Livejournal community asking for information, and now I think that I’ve got some solid information. But this is VERY late to be providing this information to con-goers, especially when forcing them to ask for it over and over.

Also in advance of WorldCon, I’ve been tearing the house apart looking for something: An original hardcover copy of Sandman: The Dream Hunters. I bought it when it first came out, and now that WorldCon is upon us, with the chance to get Neil Gaiman to sign it, I can’t find the damn thing. I have a couple places left to look before I start panicking.
