Miracles mostly come hard
Jun 8th, 2009 | By Bart Leib | Category: CG BlogToday, I discovered that two of the stories we’ve chosen to publish in Issue 8 will be the first published works of their writers. One of the stories that appeared in Issue 7 was the same for its writer. Damn, but we love that. The only thing better would be to see their expressions when they first get the emails. Of course, we can’t guarantee that we’ll have a completely “virgin” writer published in each issue – we have to take the best stories we get, regardless of who sends them – but it’s a special thrill for us to provide that opportunity.
We have made our final decisions – we chose not to take that extra story that I mentioned yesterday. The issue will include 5 short stories, 2 interviews, the cover art and 1 piece of inside art. I still have a couple of people to email, which I’ll get to tomorrow. Didn’t manage any editing today, but I have some time tomorrow to dedicate to it exclusively.
I did take a bit of time placing a few Project Wonderful bids for this upcoming week. They’re minimal, but still – Crossed Genres just had its best opening week yet (in terms of traffic) by a lot, and I’d like to see that trend continue!
And btw, this post’s title is a line from the beautiful and heartwrenching song “Leslie Is Different” by Fred Small. Download some of his music, he’s amazing.
