WINTER WELL open submission call – Pay increaseMay 30th, 2012 | By Bart Leib | Category: CG Blog
It was recently pointed out to us that the pay scale we had for one of our current open submission calls, WINTER WELL: Speculative novellas of older women, seemed low. Calculating per-word pay vs. flat rates is tricky, and determining an overall wordcount goal for a novella anthology is difficult as well. But after some number-crunching we determined that our initial scale was in fact too low.
As a result, we’ve raised the pay scale from $2.50 per 1000 words to $4.00 per 1000 words. We believe this brings it in line with our usual pay scale for anthologies.
(As a result of this higher rate, our costs will be higher than usual for an anthology. However, better author pay and more overall work published are exactly the sort of things which our current Kickstarter project is supposed to facilitate! And now it is! =)
All other WINTER WELL guidelines remain the same. The deadline for submissions is September 30, 2012. For all submission guidelines, please visit the website.
